Greetings from Portlandia!
This past weekend I visited Portland for the first time. There were many things I enjoyed about the city but one of my favorites was the old architecture.

The city also boasts several sculptures as well — and Jbutta couldn’t resist petting this piggie!

Gothic Revival — GQ Style
As I walked by this Gothic church I couldn’t help but pose in front of it’s stunning red doors for a quick photo op! I have to give credit to my ‘Style’ entourage for these great pics! – photography by John Morris, art direction by Jon Butterworth and supporting photography/direction by Mike Tamplin

The sampler at Bailey's Taproom
Portland Pub Crawl
All the walking around Portland had us thirsty very quick! And it was after all, ‘Mike’s Portland b-day weekend extravaganza.’ Luckily this town happens to have some of the best craft beer in the nation! The sampler at Bailey’s was a great idea.

And more at the Tugboat!

This was the best beer I sampled in Portland and now my favorite! The Hop Hendge IPA at Deschutes.

Food Carts!
Portland is food cart heaven! As a street food lover I made sure it was the first thing I hit up upon my arrival.

And the winner for the most homoerotic foodcart logo goes to....Bro-Dogs!

Best cheese pork sandwhich ever! @ The People's Pig.

John can't help but devour that pork sandwhich!

Thanks to Seattle and it’s high standards for artisan espresso — I can no longer drink the mediocre stuff like Starbucks. Thankfully, Stump Town cafe which is next to the Ace Hotel delivered the goods!

Wtf Portland?
This was by far the creepiest but coolest ice cream truck I’ve ever seen. And you guessed it — the driver was a clown! Watch your kids Portlandia.

Hotel Monaco
As a pet owner it’s not very easy to find a hotel that will accommodate man’s best friend. Luckily, Hotel Monaco in downtown Portland was over the top dog friendly and very courteous over the entire weekend that we were there.

No more photos please — after having the paparazzi stalk me all over Portland, i'd had enough.

Voodoo Doughnut
No trip to Portland would be complete without visiting the Voodoo. In fact, it would be heresy. I’ve wanted to check them out ever since I saw them on the travel channel years ago. And once I had my first bite — it was better than I expected. These doughnuts are dangerously addictive!

Best post drinking food. The maple bacon is ridiculous!

Cock-n-balls doughnut anyone? Only in Portland. And yes it was cream filled and very good.

Goodbye PDX!
Well there you have it! My short journey through Oregon’s Portlandia. Although there was so much more to our trip, I couldn’t possibly cover all in one post. Overall I ended up liking Portland very much, however I felt that it might be too laid back and slow paced for me. I prefer the high urban energy, more going on big city feel that Seattle has to offer.
But I will definitely visit Portland again and being that it’s close to Seattle, it easily ranks as a new favorite weekend getaway.
